Praise and Adoration

Many people find it hard to praise someone for who they are or for something they have done well. A pat on the back is nice, but it is more rewarding to know that you are appreciated and loved for who you are and not for what you have done. The same is true for God. It's much easier to focus on what God has done for us instead of simply adoring God for who He is. Our prayers of adoration turn into prayers of thanksgiving. Our minds focus on His action and not on Him.

Expressing adoration to God is important for many reasons.
First, God tells us to. Psalm 69:34 Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein. Everything that moves in the heavens and earth are to praise God. How often do I need to praise Him? Hebrews 13:15 tells us that we must continually praise God. How do I praise Him? In Psalm 33:2, it says to praise the LORD with harp; sing unto him with the psaltery, and an instrument of ten strings.

The second reason for praising God is that it puts things into perspective. When we start worshipping and adorning God, we begin to recognize who He is. Our problems and concerns don't seem to be as great because we know that God is in control and He will work the miracles in our life. When we praise God, our faith in God's abilities increase as we take the focus off of "me" and place the focus on "Him".

Another reason to praise God is that it deepens our intimacy with Him. When we praise God, it draws us into His presence. We become spiritually connected and He touches our heart. From there, the intimacy just grows, you can't help but fall in love with our Lord Jesus Christ.

The fourth reason to express praise and adoration to God is because they are spiritual warfare weapons. Satan hates it when we praise God. Praise silences the enemy. Praise and worship makes the enemy flee. Are you being tempted? Is the enemy attacking you? Start praising God and the enemy will flee. Worship God and you will see tremendous results not only in the trails and tribulations that come your way, but also in your spiritual life as well.
