Calvary's Cross

Printer Friendly Version

Calvary's Cross is the pivotal point in all of humanity. It is the defining point in all of creation. It stands solemnly alone as the one single reference point in all of the history of human kind.

There was never any other act of sacrifice that could or would ever atone for the sins of all of mankind. Calvary's Cross existed:

• before the foundations of the world were laid,
• before the world's were spoke into existence,
• before the dust of the earth was scooped up to create a man

Calvary's Cross was in the mind of God.

Calvary's Lamb existed before eternity began. God said He was the Lamb slain B-E-F-O-R-E the foundation of the world.

• Before God breathed into man and made him a living soul He provided for his salvation.
• Before Adam spoke one word God placed the eternal Lamb of Calvary's Cross in the midst of time on earth.

From the eons of eternity,

• Before God said let there be light He had provided a much greater Light to shine unto His creation.

• Before the stars were hung in place, before the galaxies ,

• Before the solar system, before time God provided Calvary's Cross.

When the fullness of time was come God provided the Lamb, He sent forth His Son, made of a woman to redeem, to provide for man's redemption and salvation.

The Word was made flesh and what was a thought in God's mind in eternity became reality when the angel told Mary-thou shalt call His name J-e-s-u-s for He shall save His people from their sins, When Emmanuel, God with us, became flesh all of eternity paused and a mighty host of angelic beings cried, "Glory to God in the Highest, Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Men."

The W-O-R-D was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory - the glory of the ONLY begotten of the Father-full of grace and truth! Heaven's Lamb became earth's propitiation for sin. He came to His own-His own rejected Him-but whoever received Him, to them He gave power to become sons of God even to those that would believe on His name.

When Jesus Christ began His public ministry there was one thing on His mind-Calvary' Cross. When Jesus washed Peter's feet it was Calvary's Cross that was on His mind-you don't understand what I'm doing now but there will come a day.

Every miracle Jesus performed, at least 36 recorded miracles in the gospels:

9 Miracles involving nature
3 Miracles of resurrection
4 Miracles of casting out demons
20 Miracles of Healings

Every physical encounter in His earthly ministry one goal, one purpose was on His mind-Calvary's Cross. When Peter challenged the thought of Calvary's Cross-Jesus rebuked Peter and told him he did not savor the things of God but those of men.

Jesus foretold of His death on Calvary's Cross on at least two occasions:

1) Matthew 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

2) Matthew 20:17-19
[17] And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,

[18] Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,

[19] And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

From Bethlehem's manger to Calvary's Cross the impending sacrifice for humanity's sins was the burden that was carried by Jesus. Before Calvary's Cross was thrust upon His shoulders the burden was carried throughout His ministry.
